Baby Head In the Family

Everyone Should have a Baby Head

This Baby head has evolved into a contest to see who can do the best job of hiding it in plain sight. It was mostly between me and my youngest daughter but several of the kids participated. I’m not exactly sure how it all got started but it was probably me.

The baby used to have a body but it came apart when it took a fall out of the bedroom curtains. That is actually okay because the head was easier to hide once it was only a head. My wife is the one who usually finds "Baby Head" and hates it when it’s out of her reach, which is also most of the time. I love it when she has to explain what it is when guests come over. They ask why a baby head is on the vaulted ceilings shelf or above the kitchen sink or in the china cabinet, or even in the birdcage.

Here are a few of the pictures taken of Baby Head over the past 4 years.

It hung out in our bird feeder for a while, but for some reason the birds didn't want anything to do with it, even if it was full of seed.

It went camping with us a couple times.

Raggedy Ann even finds Baby Head a little creepy.

In 2014 I took the head outside and photographed it in a pile of leaves (It’s more fun than raking leaves). I printed it 20x30 poster size and put it on my daughter’s bedroom wall. The eyes really glow when she has her reading light on. She actually left the poster up for years.

There was a time the Baby Head was missing but it usually shows up, somewhere. I have found it under my pillow, in the freezer, and high in my closet… really, it could be anywhere. It once went to Colorado hidden in luggage for a volleyball tournament. You never know where it will show up.

The Takedown! Round-tailed Ground Squirrels have solid Wrestling Moves

Playful young ground squirrels wrestle around the opening of their burrow with a 2 point takedown in the last frame. Google tells me these are Round-tailed Ground Squirrels. Mesa Arizona.

Huntington Beach Surfing - Scholastic Surf Series

Recently I was in California for a few days. While we were there my wife, daughter and I stopped at Huntington Beach to stick our Arizona toes in the sand. There happened to be a Scholastic Surf Series competition going on for Orange County Middle Schools. Awesome young surfers were giving it their best. I grabbed the camera and enjoyed the challenge of capturing a new (to me) sport. Surfing looks like a lot of fun and I’m pretty sure it’s not as easy as they make it look. These were talented kids.

Here are a few sample images from that day, April 2nd 2016. More pictures are posted at www.azdewphoto.com

Beauty of the Arizona Desert - Usery Mountain - Mesa Arizona

March 26, 2016

On Saturday morning before Easter, our family met out on the desert for breakfast. We gathered at Usery Mountain Regional Park, or some call it Usery Pass Park, in far North East Mesa, Arizona. The desert was beautiful at 7:30 in the morning. Cactus was everywhere, blooming in many colors. The Saguaros and Ocotillo were tall and healthy from the rain we received this year.

I had a great time walking through the cool morning air of the desert. I was looking for all things that caught my eye.

These are my findings.

2015-2016 Gilbert Tigers Girls Basketball

The Gilbert Tigers Girls Basketball team's season has come to an end. However making it deep into the State tournament was quite an accomplishment for a young team. The quarterfinal game went down to the wire and could have gone either way. It was a great season to be proud of.

Complete Galleries of their game can be found at http://www.azdewphoto.com

Great year for the Gilbert Tiger Girls Basketball Team!

I enjoyed shooting the Girls and Boys Arizona Division I High School Soccer State Finals last weekend. Desert Vista girls took down Hamilton with a 0-0 tie and PK's crowning them champions.

The boy's game pitted Gilbert against Hamilton. Gilbert held the lead until the final nine minutes when Hamilton scored twice to go ahead and held on for the win. All four team were filled talented players.
